The Barber of Seville at Opera Bastille
The first night of Rossini's The Barber of Seville at Opéra Bastille promises utmost brilliance and rejuvenation. This is one of the best operas around and the halls are always echoing with melodies and magnetic vibes.
The plot of the play never fails to invoke sympathy for the characters in the minds of the viewers. This is one of the main reasons why Barbiere di Siviglia of Rossini has always been a hit. Even when productions begin following new trends and bring in fresh accents, the core of the musical masterpiece continues to thrive and shine amidst these varying colors.
It is indeed a blessing for the ears and a feast for the eyes. There is no place you would rather be this May!
The charismatic cast is led by René Barbera as Il Conte di Almaviva and Renato Girolami as Bartolo. Each actor essays their role to perfection and looks truly fascinating on stage. The young mezzo, Aigul Akhmetshina, is definitely one of the most promising talents that will be taking the stage this season. We cannot wait to see the glamorous costumes and sets that will add life to this two-acts sparkling opera-buffa.
You can also witness Roberto Abbado work his magic in the pit. He will dip his brush in the metaphorical paint of music and produce some fantastic playing from the orchestra. The evening will be one you won’t forget easily, we guarantee!
