The colour of the Opera

The colour of the Opera

The first night of Rossini's The Barber of Seville at Opéra Bastille will definitely be new and refreshing. One of the best operas with dazzling music always fills the space of the hall with special vibes. We have a lot of sympathy for the characters, which is why Barbiere di Siviglia of Rossini has always been a hit. Even if the productions bring fresh accents following new trends, this musical masterpiece continues to thrive and only shine with new colours.

Joy to the ears, and feast for the eyes get together to make a great combo this May. A strong cast is led by René Barbera as Il Conte d'Almaviva and  Renato Girolami as Bartolo looks and sounds truly charismatic on the stage. The young mezzo, Aigul Akhmetshina, will be definitely interesting to look at this season. We are full of enthusiasm to see the costumes and sets that will reveal this two-acts sparkling opera-buffa.
In the pit, Roberto Abbado will dip a conductor's brush in the paint of music to draw excellent playing from the orchestra.
